Maths  Dividing 2 digits by 1 digit

Spr3.2.3 – Divide 2-digits by 1 digit (1) from White Rose Maths on Vimeo.

Remeber!  This is another new concept that you are learning online which we have not yet covered in school.  It is normal to mistakes and “not get it” straight away.  Tomorrow morning, I will keep the Teams meeting open for anyone who wants to go back over today’s work.

Literacy- Spellings

This week, we are going to look at spelling some useful connectives and conjunctions.  These are words that help us to join 2 clauses together in a sentence.  We will be doing a lot of work on connectives and conjunctions this week so you will get a lot of opportunities to use your spellings.  As always, decide how many you are going to attempt in your Friday spelling test!

Examples of Conjunctions

Look at the conjunctions I’ve put in bold.  Try to swap the conjuntion for a different one and see if the sentence still makes sense or has the same meaning:

      • I tried to hit the nail but hit my thumb instead.
      • I have two goldfish and a cat.
      • I’d like a bike for commuting to work.
      • You can have peach ice cream or a brownie sundae.
      • Neither the black dress nor the gray one looks right on me.
      • My dad always worked hard so we could afford the things we wanted.
      • I try very hard in school yet I am not receiving good grades.

Use some of the words from your spellings to create your own conjunction (or connective but don’t worry you will find out more about the difference in the week) sentences, do 1 sentence for each of the spellings you will be attempting on Friday.

Handwriting- Capital letters

Capital letters are very important.  They are used to show us where a sentence begins and also for identifying proper nouns.  To show how important they are, we make them bigger than lower case letters.  Every single capital letter stands on top of the writing line and is tall enough to touch the line above.

This is a handwriting practice worksheet for uppercase letters. This would be gr… | Handwriting practice worksheets, Handwriting practice sheets, Writing worksheets

Challenge-

Can you write each capital letter as well as the lower case version in the back of your book?  Use your line guide!

Bb  Qq  Rr    Tt    Xx  Ww  Yy Ss

Then, try using them in words by writing some proper nouns.  You could try the names of all your family or your address!

Reading

Below is an extract for you to read about the Earth’s structure, this is going to start to build a knowledge of how volcanoes work and of course, the Earth’s structure.

I have attached the extract with questions. Remember, the numbers in brackets are the marks available so you must make the correct amount of points. If there are two marks available, make two points.

Topic

This afternoon, you are going to map the volcanoes of the Earth. There is a sheet attached that shows only a few… you may wish to research your own and add them. It would be a lovely idea to draw and cut them out, then stick them to your map to show the location.

Can you upskill yours, Year 4 and label the volcanoes with some key facts and information.

How tall are the volcanoes?

What type of volcano is it?

When did it last erupt? Is it yet to erupt?
