Yummy Yorkshire Puddings!

Part of our topic work this week has been looking at what Yorkshire is famous for and the people, places and foods from Yorkshire. One of the most famous things from Yorkshire has to be the Yorkshire pudding!

We made the Yorkshire puddings in our table groups and looked at the recipe to follow whilst we made them. This also linked into our literacy work this week of writing instructions so we made sure we wrote the instructions up carefully to follow when making the Yorkshire puddings.

Take a look at us making our delicious Yorkshire puddings!

Remember Home learning is set on a Friday and should be returned the following Friday if you want it marking. If there is something you don’t get chance to do or forget to do, don’t worry. This week we have been looking at what it means to be from Yorkshire and we even made some yummy Yorkshire puddings. We have also started a new unit of adding 3 digit numbers in maths.

For this week’s home learning, I would like you to use your literacy skills we have learnt this week and design your own recipe for Yorkshire puddings. Don’t forget to include commands, sub headings, bullet points, what you need and ingredients list and the method.

This could be a crazy flavour or the classic flavour we made in class! You can make up the ingredients or look up the exact measurements. Make sure you add lots of colour to your recipe and drawings/pictures of Yorkshire puddings!

There are also new maths challenges on Mangahigh that I have set linked to our maths learning, if you want another home learning challenge!

For this week’s home learning, I would like you to use the persuasive language skills we have learnt in literacy to design your own advert about Barnsley, Yorkshire or Birdwell. You can use the facts you already have about Yorkshire or find some amazing facts about Birdwell or Barnsley and use these in your advert! Remember to make it stand out and try to include questions to make the reader agree with you!

For Example: Can you see why you need to go to brilliant Barnsley?

Don’t you think Yorkshire is amazing?

Do you want to see God’s own county?

Pete Mckee Artwork

We have completed our artwork based on Pete Mckee portraits! We have loved working on computers to create digital images based on drawings.

We used paint software on the computer to edit the images on the laptops.

We began creating the digital images by drawing a self-portrait in the style of Pete Mckee. Then we scanned the image to the computer and saved the image as a monochrome JPEG. Then we added in colour using the paint fill tool and saved this.

Take a look at some of the amazing examples!

Home Learning 17/9/21

Wow! What a fantastic start to year 3 we have had. We have jam packed lots of learning into our days and have been very busy. Our home learning this week is based on our new topic ‘Where am I from?’.

Can you find out as many facts about Yorkshire as you can? This includes asking the people you live with about what they know too. Can you write these as sentences in your home learning books? Can you try to include some of your literacy knowledge on expanded noun phrases into your sentences too! (Remember the adjective is before the noun!)

Eg. Yorkshire is famous for yummy Yorkshire puddings.

You can set this home learning out however you like in your books. This can be sentences, a poster on Yorkshire or some bullet point facts with some drawings/pictures!

Home learning is always due in the following Friday. Have a lovely weekend 😊

Marvelous Maths!

Today we have been looking at place Value for our maths work and using base 10 to help us create numbers!

The base 10 has helped us visualise the numbers and practically build the hundreds, tens and ones in our number. We created ‘base 10 monsters’ to write down using place value! Take a look!
